5 Basic Skin Care Tips for Dark Skin

Would you rather a warm or a cool tone when it comes to choosing the most flattering makeup hues? Well, choosing the right colors based around your hair, eye, and natural undertones will, stress your natural features and make you glow.

You go through a lot of skincare routines, but how then do you uncover more about yourself? Here are the five ways to determine an African skin tone;

1. TAN OR BURN:

Ask yourself if you are tan or ban. Those who seem to turn into bronze goddesses in the sun are usually warm-toned, while those that get red instead are usually cool. That doesn’t mean cools can’t tan; it just means they have to be a little more gradual with their exposure. Africans are often warm-toned, but not always. Africans may tan easily but still have a cool tone, so keep testing.

2. CHECK YOUR VEINS:

Look at the underside of your wrist. What color are your veins? If you are not sure and your veins look bluish-green, you may be neutral.

3. TRY THE WHITE TEST:

To do this, get a plain piece of white paper and put it up by your face, sans makeup. Does your complexion look dull, or good? If you answered “dull,” you are warm. If you answered “good,” you are cool. If you can’t tell much difference, you’re neutral. Some more clues: if your skin appears sallow or yellowish, you are warm. You may have a neutral undertone.

4. DETERMINE COLORS THAT LOOK GOOD ON YOU:

The truth is; cool tones look good in deep, vibrant colors, such as blue, purple, and emerald-green. Warm tones glow in earth tones like red, orange, yellow, and olive-green. If you can wear both shades, you have neutral undertones.

5. WHAT JEWELRY COLORS DO YOU PREFER?

Another fact about the cools is that they look best in silver, while warms shine in gold. If you like two-toned, can you guess? You can test this by laying a gold and silver chain next to each other on your hand or arm.

Through these tests, you can always determine your skin tone!
